Introducing "Laid to Rest"
Hey friends!!
We are ONE WEEK away from one of the most exciting releases of 2022 - Laid to Rest: The Hopes, Haunts, and Humor of My Life Above a Funeral Home, where we experience several of Sheila Lamb-Gabler’s childhood memories from the south side of Chicago!
Let me guess, you’re a little skeptical that a book about a funeral home can be hopeful OR humorous, right?
Well, I wouldn’t blame you! However, Sheila’s memories that are brought to life showcase the uplifting, hilarious, and exciting environment behind-the-scenes of a family-run funeral home.
Together, we embark on a journey that shines a light on the funeral industry from the eyes of a little girl just trying to figure out her way through life in Catholic School, with friends, workaholic parents, a Great Dane, and not letting the reality of being on a nightly Dead Body Duty hold her back from living her life.
Sheila’s goal for Laid to Rest was to focus on the memories that had the strongest influence on her beliefs. The stories that forged her values and gave her strength and hope that has lasted throughout all of her years.
This book isn’t about how to grieve, or how to accept death. This book is about how to live life, how to do it with no regrets, and to give yourself the gifts of love, forgiveness, appreciation, kindness, and joy!
This is a book about a little girl surrounded by darkness and not noticing how dark it really was because of the light she had within her and the love and happiness she shared with her friends and family. She looks back on these experiences with gratitude, laughter, and excitement. Sometimes the emotions filler her so much that she couldn’t finish a story without laughing so hard she was crying!
