How Expertise Fuels Creativity
There are several different perspectives when it comes to understanding what makes an “Expert.” Maybe it’s that you have a degree, or maybe that you have worked, researched, experimented, and more in that field for over 10,000 hours. It doesn’t matter which classification you are working with, you simply have to be comfortable with it and have the knowledge and experience to back it up.
There are SO many ways to gain that knowledge and experience. You could interview other experts, read books, listen to podcasts, watch Youtube videos, visit meet-ups and attend networking events!
Once you have gained the knowledge and experience, you can begin to experiment with it! This is where your true education and professionalism can creatively flourish. This is where curiosity plays a huge role in the progression and growth of a business, company, brand, goal, or even personal development
When we challenge our known beliefs and experiences, or when we connect the dots between unexpected values and understandings, we can continue to push our creativity! When we continue to push our creativity, we can introduce collaborations to discover deeper meanings.
It’s a wonderful method to feel creatively fulfilled in the workplace whether you work in data processes, marketing, sales, and beyond!

Continued experimenting
One of the main things I learn when I became an expert in creativity was that learning never ends. When you are an expert, you are also a constant student. You are always trying to understand deeper, discover more, and try harder. This is fueled by the joy, drive, and excitement when inspiration hits, or when new possibilities become apparent. This experimenting continued to spark creative flares in my profession and has given me new tools to continue to improve on my expertise.
Continued learning
As I mentioned before, when you are an expert, you are always a student, and with that experimentation came the inspiration to continue learning in new ways. Not only about my own field, but in complementary fields as well. This additional education and experience continued to build upon the possibilities and knowledge that sparked curiosity and experimentation that cultivated my expertise. Don’t ever take learning for granted, and don’t ever underestimate the power of knowledge and the creative impact they can both lead to!
Learning the importance of collaboration
I also learned by focusing on my expertise that I am not the only expert, and, more importantly, I can’t build my expertise alone, and nor should I! Isolated growth is challenging and unrewarding. Everyone needs the input and inspiration from books, studies, interviews, research, and beyond to build a solid foundation of knowledge and to continue expanding upon the full picture of what the expertise sheds a light on while kick-starting the curiosity to experiment.
Our professional growth, expertise, and education are a massive cycle of creative growth that is incredibly powerful because it is rooted in personal passion and values.
By putting together all of these elements, we begin to see just how important our expertise can be to our creative development.
My professional experiences and expertise provided so many life-changing moments and continue to provide me with new opportunities for growth and collaboration on a regular basis. It is the best feeling to know that it all came from a genuine, authentic, and bold place within me!
